HSSEQ Manager - EMEA Region

Role Purpose:

 

Responsible and accountable for delivery and implementation of EMEA Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) Strategy for Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Hungary, Turkey.

Delivering measurable improvements in quality, health, safety and environmental performance and engagement across our client's organisation, in support of business objectives.

The role will require an experienced professional who has held a similar role in a related industry and who is comfortable and confident in working and presenting at a senior level.

Core Responsibilities:

This HSSEQ Manager will need to have proven experience in developing and implementing initiatives to improve HSSEQ compliance and awareness and will be responsible for;

 

  • Developing, implementing and delivering appropriate objectives, targets and improvement programmes for the cluster countries.

  • Monitoring and reporting on HSSEQ performance and progress against HSSEQ objectives to local and regional leadership teams. Routinely presenting at corporate meetings and steering groups to increase HSSEQ awareness and engagement.

  • Managing and developing appropriate training programmes, methods of delivery and evaluation of effectiveness to ensure employees are competent with regard to their health and safety duties.

  • Developing appropriate arrangements to ensure that risks from contractors and third-party suppliers are vetted, managed and effectively controlled. Procuring managing and monitoring the activities of external consultants operating on behalf of the EMEA HSSEQ Team.

  • Providing support and technical advice to senior operational managers to enable them to undertake their roles and responsibilities for health, safety and the environment within their particular areas of the business.

  • Working closely with business development teams to support operational growth in line with business objectives. Presenting to clients as required.

  • Acting as a regional ‘crisis manager’ dealing with major incidents and advising on the next steps. Undertaking investigations of serious incidents and accidents that addresses incident circumstances, incident causation and consider improvements that could be made for the future.

  • Liaising with external enforcement bodies and insurers as well as clients in order to satisfy key stakeholder requirements.

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:

Educated to degree level in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent discipline, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing, implementing and refining models of health, safety, and environmental management in accordance with the requirements of international standards.

 

Detailed knowledge and practical application of safety in the fields of construction, technical management, and property management.

 

Senior membership of recognised HSSEQ trade associations/bodies.

 

Experience of working in a multi-site environment in the facilities, retail, property or service delivery sector preferable.

 

Proven track record in construction health and safety law.

 

An experienced trainer capable of delivering in-house training courses on HSSEQ topics.

  • Professional and proactive in approach and style, an excellent relationship builder, able to coach and influence change, by working in partnership and collaboration across the business.

  • Commercially aware and able to act calmly and with authority in a crisis. Able to deal with major incidents and advise members of the company executive on appropriate action to be taken in any HSSEQ related incident.

  • An excellent communicator in English as well as local language.

  • Likes to work as part of a team but equally comfortable working alone; enjoys working with diverse and dynamic stakeholders and business units.

  • Excellent presentational skills and confident at delivering complex and difficult messages to a variety of different stakeholders of varying seniority.

  • Sensitive to the varying cultures and ways of operating between countries. Able to tailor solutions to suit national requirements and legislative frameworks.

  • Exceptional time management skills and an ability to work and deliver under pressure.

  • Fluent in English and a local European language as a minimum.
